Cybersecurity Safeguards For Government Contractors, A Sera-Brynn and Kaufman & Canoles Training Event

Sera-Brynn, in partnership with Kaufman & Canoles, is pleased to invite business owners and leaders who support the Department of Defense (DoD) to an informative, in-depth breakfast Tuesday, Oct. 13 from 8 to 9:30 a.m.

During the breakfast, Sera-Brynn’s cybersecurity experts and Kaufman & Canoles contract specialists will discuss Defense Federal Acquisition Regulation Supplement (DFARS) Rule 252.204-7012 (Safeguarding of UCTI – Unclassified Controlled Technical Information) and the implications it has on military contractors.

In November 2013, the Department of Defense (DoD) issued DFARS Rule 78 Fed. Reg. 69273 that included a clause imposing heightened security safeguards and mandatory reporting requirements on DoD contractors handling unclassified controlled technical information. DoD contractors and subcontractors with information systems containing unclassified controlled technical information must assess their compliance with the final rule’s security standards and ensure procedures are in place to promptly report and thoroughly investigate cyber incidents in connection with future contracts.

DFARS 252.204-7012 requires DoD contract holders validate compliance with a subset of NIST 800-53 controls.
The cost for the event is $25 and proceeds will be matched by Kaufman & Canoles and Sera-Brynn and donated to a local non-profit.

The event will take place at Todd Jurich’s Bistro at 150 W. Main Street in Norfolk.
